TORNADOES cause more damage than any other storm. They’re most common in Australia and North America, though they occur all over the world.

Some tornadoes can be over a mile wide, but most are much smaller and travel less than 15 miles. The fastest wind speed recorded during a tornado was 300 miles per hour.

In “Dixie Alley,” where much of Mississippi is located, tornadoes are most frequent during the months of May and June, and they occur most often between 4PM and 8PM.
